One final note . . . . The Truth About Passing Averages
Many prospective licensees will enroll in a school based on their advertised "high passing" averages. Because of the heavy competition for students, schools will inflate their passing rate -- recently this number is quoted in excess of 90%!!!!! The Department of Real Estate does not track this data or publish it -- the school can claim any percentage they want to.
Actually, this number is grossly deceptive since the Department of Real Estate publishes significantly lower in terms of actual passing statistics. Currently, the broker passing rate is averaging 37-40% and the sales passing rate hovers between 39% to 44%. The DRE actually shoots for a 50% passing average as their ideal target - substantially higher would indicate the exam is too easy and much lower would indicate the exam is too hard.
In conclusion, beware of a school that advertises "highest passing averages" or one that quotes exceptionally low prices for their courses . . . if their prices are low you can bet the quality of their books and service is low also -- Plus they have no physical location and often disappear in the night.
